Introduction

I've never really thought of myself as a blogger, but here I am. The idea is that I'll get in some good writing practice this way.

Like most unexpected turn of events, this one happened rather suddenly. At least, the idea came to me only recently, but now that I think about it I guess I've been heading this direction for a while. I've always admired and envied good writing--you know, the kind that feels confessional instead of premeditated--and normally I leave it at that. But now I've decided that instead of idly admiring and envying, I'll take steps to develop the craft--and, as they say, practice makes perfect.
